Hey, guys! I've come to a realization... I don't like how stiff crochet fabric is, and it is irritates the dryness in my hands. Every pattern I was finding that I liked, ended up getting messed up somewhere in the middle of counting. The latest iteration of the crochet scarf was scrapped as I think I messed up my counting and just in the first 6 rows was so incredibly stiff and I kind of wonky.
So.... I'm knitting. Historically, I appreciate knit scarves and I think he will too. I found a pattern for a one row scarf, you literally Knit 2, Knit 1 in the back loop, Purl 1 and repeat forever. How can I mess this one up? I've honestly not been too good mentally, so today was D-day on the frogging of the fiance scarf and the birth of the One row scarf.
You can't see the pattern quite yet, but I think I'm safely trucking along on this one. Guys, I think I finally found the one! After like 5 patterns frogged, and so much frustration, I found it!
Update on my resin stuff, it's literally still tacky. Maybe my proportions were off? Did I use too little hardener? I have no idea. I'll give it yet more time. Maybe it'll help if i put it in the sun? What else can I encase in resin? I really want to get on making a market bag or a circle vest, but can't quite be fussed to start it up quite yet with how indecisive I am at the moment.
I need to find a coffee-related pattern, because I think that would be fun. But what do I need that's coffee related? I need to round out my Etsy shop with some crafts too. Because I do everything after all.
That's all of the updates I have for you guys this week! I hope to make some decent progress on this particular one and maybe do some crochet beading or something in the coming week when I'm not freelancing. See you next time!
Along side my mishaps and aggravation with this scarf, I've been making a couple things out of resin. I made a small square pendant with a star bead and a key encased in a bezel. Which you can see in the gallery above. Why in the heck does resin take so long to cure? This is ridiculous! I'll hopefully be a few repetitions into the new scarf by next week! I'll see you then!
Hey guys, it's ya girl! Wait... that's not how I want to start this... Anyway... I figure this first post will be an introduction of sorts. I'm a blogger with Java and Jeans... well, the blogger with Java and Jeans. I have previously had a crafting blog, and this is going to be another one! My initial crafting blog was Wynn of All Trades where I ran bi-weekly crafting challenges and cranked out crafts like no one's business.
Or, well... life happened as it does. I got into some pretty dark waters for me and left my crafty ways behind. I've always loved to make things, and in fact, the first thing I tell people about me is that I'm an Artist. It's as much a part of me as anything. I recently was let go from a very toxic job and have since rediscovered my love for making things! I've been on a rampage the past month. If you like makeup and stuff, follow Java and Jeans, if you like art, check out Ashu Arts and Crafts, and if you like making things just stay right here... with me... forever. Or until you get bored, whichever comes first!
So far in this month of joblessness, I have been working on a Scarf, that I started working on shortly before I was let go. I guess I knew something was coming, and it inspired me. Dragonflies are symbols of self-improvement and new beginnings, so this was so apt it hurt. This is the Scarf of Personal Growth and probably the next thing I'm going to finish! Click the image to see the pattern!
I've also been working on a small lap blanket with literally just enough room for me and my dog when we're in the recliner done entirely in blanket stitch. So no specific pattern here. I'm just basically making this to use up this yarn, I don't like the mossy colors of it. It's Chimera from Lion Brand, and I really prefer Unicorn. So....
These next couple of things are things that I actually completed! The first of which is a dress for a stuffed animal, what you guys might need to know about me, is that I love, love, love stuffed animals. I adore build-a-bear, but their clothes are expensive. This dress was supposed to be made for my newest BAB, Isabel, but it's too big for her. Maybe one day I'll learn how to pay attention to gauge- it's okay, it looks nice on Lily. :)
Next up is something that's not crochet- but polymer clay and resin. I've dabbled in making jewelry and I'm still wanting to dabble in it after I make my wearable. I'm thinking a nice circle vest? Anyway, I bought these pineapple ice tray things that are really flexible. I figured, "Hey- I can't do anything with clay. What about molds?" And whaddaya know? It worked. So I tried with resin, food color and glitter... and viola! That worked too. Looks like the resin train is here!
Those are pretty much what I've been working on, and I'm trying to figure out how I want to do the crafting here. Maybe Bi-weekly? And for larger projects, do Biweekly updates? Yeah, that works. Go back to the OG formula.
Stick around if you like crafts, and patterns and what not! I may move some of my older posts here too, who knows? Also, since this is kind of a catch all site for me and it's for my hobbies and whatnot, I do tarot readings and will happily do some for you! You can check my Etsy out over on the side, eventually I will be adding crafts over there! :)
